Acquire Goodson, Ritt; Bid Farewell to Mauia, Morrison
PORTLAND, OR – The Portland Thunder made several roster moves on Wednesday, trading linebacker Wes Mauia to New Orleans for wide receiver Samora Goodson. They also were assigned former Portland State offensive lineman Kyle Ritt and placed offensive lineman Lloyd Morrison on recallable reassignment.
“We were moving toward getting more young guys,” said Head Coach Matthew Sauk. “But I’m looking forward to seeing Samora come in and compete. He’ll have a few days to come in and see if he can prove he’s better than the guys we’ve got. As for Kyle, he’s a solid offensive lineman – we’re happy he’s another local kid and he’ll have every opportunity to make this squad.”
Goodson (6-3, 210) led the San Jose SaberCats in receiving in 2012 with 114 receptions for 1,471 yards and 27 touchdowns. In his three-year AFL career, he’s compiled over 2,200 yards and 40 touchdowns.
Ritt (6-3, 290) played four seasons at Portland State, where he started all but one possible game and was named honorable mention All-Big Sky in three consecutive seasons.
The Portland Thunder will kick off its inaugural season at the Moda Center on Monday, March 17th when they take on the San Jose SaberCats. Season tickets are available for purchase starting as low as $99 by calling 503-773-4AFL or by visiting www.portlandthunder.com.
