Our first impression on seeing Lego Worlds was “amalgamation of Lego and Minecraft”. The imprint of Mojang’s blockbuster game is undeniable but with that said Lego World has enough substance to retain its own unique identity. The game focuses on construction of world based on the items player discovers while traversing the map and hording on “Studs” the in game currency.
The sandbox game starts off by letting the users choose from two classes to start off:
- The explorer
- The Paleontologist
Each with their unique perks which become evident further into the game. Further characters, creatures, vehicles and buildings are unlocked upon in depth exploration. Developers have done a commendable job by keeping the control scheme similar to that of previous Lego games. For us the real fun was riding different creatures that unlock later in the game. Horses, bull and even a mountain goat can be ridden. If that doesn’t strike your fancy, you can also soar into the skies by hopping on the back of eagles. There is a bit of action to balance the act sort of speak thrown in where players can take on mummies and skeletons.
The beauty of the game is the choices it bestow upon the players. If you are one of those players who like to construct their own world where everything has to be according to your design then “brick by brick editor tool” is just for you. Otherwise there’s a sizable selection of predefined Lego structures to select from.
Lego Worlds is developed by TT games and published by Warner Bros in conjunction with Interactive Entertainment for Microsoft Windows platform. So far we are loving the game for its flexibility and share fun. Highly recommended for all Lego fans and even for those who haven’t played any Lego game before. .
