Bellator: Results from Portland Oregon

Bellator saw action on September 27th at the Rose Garden/Moda Center in Portland Oregon. The show saw eleven matches with six on the preliminary and five making the main card. All eleven fights were great quality fights with each fight getting better and better. Bellator had 4+ hours of non-stop action packed to the max with all their fighters giving 110 percent!

 

1. Peter Aspenwal defeated Jeremiah Riggs via split decision. The judges scored it as 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28 with Aspenwal coming out the winner. The match was won on ground control.

 

2. Austin Springer defeated Zach Skinner via unanimous judges decision with scores of 30-26, 29-28, and 29-28. The match was largely one sided.

 

3. Brent Primus submitted Scott Thometz via a rear naked choke at 3:48 of the first round. Thometz worked the back mount until he could sink the rear choke.

 

4. Dave Vitkay submitted Tyson Jeffries via a rear naked choke at 3:07 of the third round. After getting pushed back after an early fury Vitkay was able to reassert control and win the match.

 

5. Marcin Held knocked out Ryan Healy relatively early at 1:12 of round one. A knockdown via a right hand Held got a top mount an rained down punches until the official called the knockout.

 

6. The next matchup went to the judges. Nathan Coy won via decision over Andy Uhrich. The match was scored 29-28, 29-28, and 29-29 in favor of Coy. Coy one this one largely on ground control.

 

7. Onto the main card Saad Awad submitted Martin Stapleton with a rear naked choke in 3:46 of round one. Awad had no problems controlling the fight from the bell. This match was an opening match in the lightweight tournament.

 

8. Will Brooks draw a decision over John Alessio. The judges scored it 30-26, 30-27, and 30-25. Brooks landed heavy hits and controlled on the ground. This match was an opening match in the lightweight tournament.

 

9. Ricardo Tirloni drew a decision over Rich Clementi. The judges scored it 30-26, 30-27, and 30-27. The match was a striking contest and was an opening match in the lightweight tournament.

 

10. Alexander Sarnavskiy submitted Marcus Davis with a rear naked choke at 1:40 of Round one. This match was an opening match in the lightweight tournament. Sarnavskiy had little trouble sinking the choke in early.

 

11. Our main event was a semifinals match in the bantamweight tournament. Joe Warren submitted Nick Kirk with an armbar at 3:03 of round two in a well fought back and forth match.
