Game Recap – Oregon vs UCLA

Bo Nix threw five touchdown passes and the eighth-ranked Oregon Ducks knocked off the 12th-ranked UCLA Bruins 45-30 Saturday in a Pac-12 showdown at Autzen Stadium. The highly anticipated game between Oregon vs UCLA was a Pac-12 showdown to remember. With both teams ranked in the top 12, the game at Autzen Stadium was a battle of top talent and skill.

Nix tossed three scoring passes, including a pair to Troy Franklin, in the first half to help the Ducks build a commanding 31-13 lead at halftime. The Auburn transfer quarterback completed 22 of 28 passes for 283 yards to throw his hat in the Heisman Trophy race.

Oregon (6-1) took a 10-3 lead when Nix connected with Terrance Ferguson for a 17-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. But the Bruins answered back on a 36-yard touchdown from Dorian Thompson-Robinson to Keegan Jones to knot the score at 10-all.

The Ducks grabbed the lead again on a 49-yard touchdown strike from Nix to Franklin to make the score 17-10. Jordan James pushed the lead to 24-10 on a two-yard run with seven minutes left in the half.

UCLA (6-1) added a 44-yard field goal from Nicholas Barr-Mira to cut the lead to 24-13. However, Nix and Franklin hooked up again on a short touchdown pass with 10 seconds left on the clock to put the Bruins in an 18-point hole.

Nix posted his fourth scoring pass of the game late in the third quarter to increase the Ducks’ lead to 38-16. Nix hit Cam McCormick down the middle for a 17-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach. The senior finished off his record-setting performance with a 37-yard scoring pass to Mar’Keise Irving early in the fourth quarter to clinch the win.

Franklin had 132 yards on a team-high eight receptions for the Ducks, while Chase Cota caught four balls for 34 yards.

Irving tallied 107 yards on 19 carries and caught three passes for 57 yards. Noah Whittington rushed the ball 12 times for 73 yards.

Thompson-Robinson completed 27 of 39 passes for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns and ran the ball eight times for 38 yards.

Zach Charbonnet led the Bruin’s rushing attack with 151 yards and a score on 20 carries. He also reeled in four passes for 28 yards.

Jake Bobo posted eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown, and Jones tallied 49 yards and a score on three receptions.

The Ducks will be on the road this weekend against the California Golden Bears (3-4), while the Bruins will host the Stanford Cardinal (3-4) at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. As the Ducks move on to face the California Golden Bears, and the Bruins host the Stanford Cardinal, the memory of Oregon vs UCLA game will remain a significant moment in the history of Pac-12 football.
