The Moda Center, formerly the Rose Garden, is Portland, Oregon’s primary indoor sports arena. This is currently the site of Disney on Ice Rockin’ Ever After. This event began Thursday, Oct. 24th through Sunday, Oct 27th.
Mickey Mouse promised a star studded extravaganza of talent, and he delivered. Introducing Disney on Ice presents Rockin Ever After. “Brave’s” Merida made a grand debut with her well-aimed pyrotechnic arrows. But the mouse house favorite The Little Mermaid which featured skating routines, shimmering marine costumes and a spectacular aerial routine.
Also featuring, are the greatest-hits-style of two of Disney animated films, Beauty and the Beast which debuted in 1991 and Tangled, which debuted in 2010. Rockin’ Ever After focuses on memorable songs, movies’, storytelling and a compilation of amazing visuals of Disney on Ice.
Still one the truly greatest part of this whole event is all the costumed guest, both children and adults who show up as their favorite Disney characters. Also, in the mix is all the venders selling pricey toys and snacks, which is just part of the Disney tradition.
Rockin’ Ever After has that fairytale appeal with the top fab four, Goofy, Donald Duck and Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who make their appearance between segments to guide the guest to the next tale.
Following a rather frolicking musical number the talent show begins by leading off with Pinocchio who hasn’t been seen on ice in quite a while with his theme song, “I’ve Got No Strings,” but the real highlight came when Pinocchio couldn’t help but to embellish his signature calling by causing his nose to suddenly grow longer. Next up was Cinderella’s far less-than-refined stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella, who received big laughs as they came on caterwauling and clumsily moving around on the ice while attempting to “Sing, Sweet Nightingale.”
In summary, this is only a brief overview as you can imagine, which is the point of Disney is anyway, meaning you are free to imagine at will.
