One of the Most Stunning Locations

As one of the most stunning locations in the world, being able to visit the Ancient Mayan ruins that surround Cancun was truly something special. Not only did I get to undertake in a unique and invigorating journey, but I was able to witness some of the most impressive and detailed ruins that we know of today. Through my experience in Cancun, I wanted to write a little about how I found my own experience of both the Tulum and Coba ruins. They were, I would say, the best ruins that I have visited, especially on this particular trip.

Tulum Ruins

The Tulum ruins, upon entering them, immediately took me by surprise. They are based in such a dramatic and unique location, that they are set apart from most other forms of ruins that I have ever come to visit – especially in Mayan territories. It’s very small, but the scene – the very top of a clifftop by the Caribbean Sea – is truly breath-taking. I found myself just gazing at the incredible wonders below, thinking about how it must have been for those who were there in the original ruins – and what they must have seen as the world around them changed forever.

While you cannot climb over the structures, which is obviously understand, I was hugely impressed by the way it has been preserved. It’s probably down to that strict nature of preservation that allows it, but it’s still very impressive.

With the awesome beach at the foot of the cliff, too, it’s very easy to see why for so many people the Tulum Ruins offer one of the most enjoyable Mayan ruins to come and visit.

Coba Ruins

The Coba Ruins are known for being the once residing place of the ancient city itself. Now a derelict mess that works itself around two stunning lagoons, this is a wonderful set of ruins to come and visit – the very depiction of what you would expect such ruins to look like.

It’s a location that is known for its rich jungle hue and the various temples which you can climb up and see the amazing views above. It is truly remarkable to stand atop ancient Mayan buildings and to see the world around you as you do so.

It’s a location that provides access to bikes, too, making it easy to explore the city faster. I took it all on foot, however, prolonging a hugely enjoyable experience.

I would fully recommend that you take the time to come and do this, if you get the chance. The Tulum and Coba Ruins are, without doubt, some of the most impressive ruins that I have ever come across of this kind – truly exceptional in their shape, style and design.
